About Us
Whether it be a conference presentation, being interviewed by a journalist, writing an article for the popular press, or something else, science communication is a crucial part of being a scientist. But most scientists aren't effective science communicators, particularly in the context of serving non-expert audiences.

We're doing something about that. Actually, three somethings.

We developed a free, intensive science writing internship program (May to August, 2021) for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in STEM and STEM-adjacent disciplines in Canada. Selected interns will participate in workshops facilitated by leaders in Canadian #scicomm, and contribute blog posts to this site. Sound like something you'd be interested in? Applications are now closed. Check out this page for public events!

We're also conducting a survey to better understand the science communication skills, experience, knowledge, confidence, and opinions of members of the general public, science communicators, scientists, and everyone in-between in Canada. The survey is now closed. Thank you to all participants.

And finally, we'll be recording and making as much of the internship program publicly available as possible. Watch our resources page for workshop videos, notes, and other materials.
